Our Story
From Yemen's Ancient Towers
To Your Cup
Shibam Coffee brings centuries of Yemeni coffee tradition to Philadelphia's University City.
The City That Inspired Our Name
Shibam is an ancient city in Yemen's Hadhramaut valley, often called the “Manhattan of the Desert.” Its iconic mud-brick towers — some rising over 100 feet — have stood for centuries, a testament to the ingenuity and resilience of Yemeni culture.
Just as those towers have endured through the ages, Yemeni coffee culture has been passed down through generations. Yemen is where coffee cultivation began, and the ancient port of Mocha gave the world its most famous coffee name.
We named our company after Shibam because we believe great things are built on strong foundations. Every cup we serve is rooted in centuries of tradition, crafted with the same care and pride that built those legendary towers.
